Getting Started

Apple Store Account

An Apple store account should be created under the Library's name and to register as a tax exempt entity. Please be sure to create the ABM (next step) and link it to the store account before proceeding to purchase!

Apple Business Manager (ABM)

Apple Business Manager (ABM) is free Apple portal that enables enterprises to simplify and automate the bulk management and deployment of corporate Apple devices, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS devices.

Each member library should create an Apple Business Manager account after creating a store account. This process can take a few days! Once the ABM portal is ready, SWKLS will need access in order to link devices to our MDM. Please call us for assistance.

Purchasing

How items can be purchased

  • Directly from Apple
  • Through an authorized reseller
  • Through other sellers such as Amazon

ABM Enrollment

Items purchased directly from Apple or from an authorized reseller can be automatically added into the ABM portal through Automatic Device Enrollment.

Other devices may be added using the Apple Configurator 2 if they are running iOS 11 or newer.

MDM Enrollment

Once the Apple Business Manager portal is available, the MDM server can be added for automatic MDM enrollment. This is a two step process consisting of assigning the MDM server within the ABM portal and adding the DEP account within Hexnode.
